Lennon piano tours world

The piano which John Lennon used for "Imagine" is travelling on a peace tour of the world, it has been reported.

The Steinway Model Z upright was used to write and perform Lennon's landmark song and is now owned by George Michael.

It will this week be photographed at the Memphis site where civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King was killed, exactly 39 years ago.

The latest appearance follows a similar turn recently on the grassy knoll in Dallas where John F Kennedy is infamously thought to have been shot from.

Speaking about the piano, which he paid £1.67 million for in 2000, Michael explained: "The selection of the site evokes a deep sense of emotion for everyone.

"Capturing the image of this special piano on which a song of peace was composed is part of the heartbeat of this project."

A documentary and photo album capturing the piano's journey is also in the pipeline.
