Macca to Record Vocal Backing on Lennon Track

Paul McCartney is reported to be about to start work on a recording of a John Lennon track. According to the Daily Express the song, 'Now and Then', may become Sir Paul's next single.

The track, penned by John Lennon, was due to be completed as part of the 'Beatles Anthology' project ten years ago when McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr reworked two other Lennon solo numbers, 'Free As A Bird' and 'Real Love', but at the time George was not keen on the song and it was rejected.

A spokesperson said: "It has always bothered Paul a bit that they didn't finish 'Now And Then'. Although George wasn't keen, Paul always felt the song had a lot of potential".

Sir Paul is planning to sing backing vocals to John's existing lead vocals and would mark the first vocal collaboration between the two for a generation.
